From time to time Norfolk Oak have a clearance event. It’s not a sale, as these are one off affairs (the last one was in 2011) where we are selling items we have just run out of room to store. The reason for this sale is the launch of our new showroom in a fabulous stable block next to the office. It’s a beautiful building and we will be keeping all the original features but that’s another story. As well as making room for expansion here, we’ve had to take out some storage in the main workshops to make room for the massive new Weinig molder, but again, another story.
What’s on offer?
Around half the goods are ex display from our old showroom, or are items made specifically for shows we attend, like Grand Designs. Some are special one offs to test a certain design aspect; much of the furniture was created partly for this reason, combined with photo-shoots we have been asked to do for various magazines such as House & Garden or Country Living. A few pieces have manufacturing defects which have been pulled from delivery at the quality control stage – where this is the case it is clearly shown in the description with photographs.
None of the pieces are returns, and none have been sold previously. Most pieces are half price or less, and includes VAT.
Each piece is in near perfect condition. Please bear in mind it has been moved, displayed, sat on, and may have the odd mark or dent much as it might get in your home. If there is anything of particular note, then it will be documented and photographed with the piece so you get the full story. We want to be delighted with your purchase, especially at the price we are selling it at – we’re not in the game of raising your expectations and then dashing them. Where pieces are oiled, we will rub them down and give them another coat of oil so they look their best for you. As with all sales, these are sold as seen, and of course you are very welcome to come and inspect anything you like.
Each piece has been lotted separately – once it’s gone it’s gone, and the only way to get another one is to have it made, which will of course be a lot more expensive – between two and three times the cost.
We do all of our own deliveries, which means we need to co-ordinate our trips with you. Generally everything is ready to go and can be delivered from a couple of days out to two weeks. Delivery costs are shown with each piece, but a couple of points here please; The price is based on delivery to most of England, but Devon and Cornwall may be extra if we are not already going there. Same for Wales and north of Carlisle. South Scotland will be extra, Mid Scotland a bit more, and the Highlands a bit more again. We’re not trying to get rich here, just cover some of our costs. We regularly ship to the Chanel Islands, Isle Of Man, The Scottish Islands, Northern Ireland and Eire and Europe – for any of these please just give us a call and we’ll be delighted to quote.

This piece is made from our stunning Walnut Endgrain and was produced for a photo shoot for House & Gardens earlier this year. The front lip enables it to be located at the edge of the worktop sitting flush and rubber feet could also be added for additional support.

This piece is a 700mm diameter, 70mm Thick Worktop which has been sandwiched throughout by two adjoining 35mm sections of timber to provide a solid chunky piece ideally suited as a table top. The product is constructed from our Walnut Wide Block timber and has a really elegant grain structure and a soft radius to the top & bottom edge to really smooth the edges in compliment to the natural curve.

This Engrain is absolutely beautiful in an 80mm thickness it is a really stunning piece and a predominant feature of any kitchen. Constructed this year as a sample for Jamie’s Italian these endgrains are wonderful not only for display but as intended for purpose as hardwearing chopping boards, with regular oiling these boards will last a life time as a chopping board or fixed work surface.

Approximately 610mm tall, these stools are fully finished and ready to use. Made as all our stools are by Mervyn in his wonderful giant barn behind his farmhouse in Ohio. Mervyn is a fifth generation Amish furniture maker, who specialises in just making stools and chairs. Thanks to the lovely scoop in the top, they are incredibly comfortable, just perfect for sitting up at an island or bar.

At Norfolk Oak we have taken the classic Butchers’ End Grain Chopping Block and tailored it to suit the modern kitchen environment, resulting in us manufacturing both worktops and chopping boards that are fully bespoke and made to order. These boards are incredibly hardwearing but equally just as beautiful. End grain has a real depth to its pattern and colour and can be sanded to produce a wonderfully smooth and tactile surface.
Any good butcher will tell you the only real surface for chopping meat is an old-fashioned end grain butchers’ block. We've simply refined those hugely practical attributes into some of the most fabulous designs. Made to any size, they make a great moveable chopping block or fixed worksurface.
In addition to our custom made endgrain pieces, from time to time we have stock items which become available as shown below, these pieces tend to go very quickly as they are significantly reduced and again they arrive pre oiled and ready to simply put in place and start using.

Made for a show in the earlier part of the year, and then for a photo-shoot for Homes and Gardens, these cherry tables are quite stunning. The tops are 30mm thick in solid cherry, the frame is 45mm solid cherry, and the legs are 90mm solid cherry. There are two different finishes, either a two part PU lacquer or an oiled finish. In addition, there are two different leg styles, either in-set or flush. Each table has been photographed so you can see all of these details for yourself for any of the tables on request. These tables have been marked at just under 50%.

These are just the same solid Cherry chairs as on our main hardwood chairs furniture listings, except that they have been used either as display chairs or at shows. There are only 14 chairs like this, after which they go back to full price. The chairs may have minor dents or marks; anything which would be noticeable has been photographed and reported, and may have a different price. Obviously we can’t sell any of these chairs as new even though some of them are as good as the day they came out of the box, so they are a bargain.

Made as a display piece for our recent Grand Designs stand. The top is a 140 mm thick Walnut end grain block - the ideal chopping surface for even the most serious of butchers. The legs and frame are solid Walnut too and the whole piece has the most beautiful oiled finish. This Walnut end grain unit has never been chopped on, still looking as it did the day it left our workshops.
