A Norfolk Oak Butchers Block Worktop is unique.

You will immediately notice the huge difference our random width staves 55 – 90 mm wide make over narrow 40 mm ones. For a start, the beauty of the grain is immediately apparent. Instead of 16 little bits of wood in a standard 636 mm width, you get 8 to 10 beautiful pieces of timber which show the real splendor of wood.

Very few customers actually know the only reason mass market worktops are made with 40 mm staves; the quality of the timber they start with is so low there is literally nothing else they can make from it. All the good grades go first to fine furniture (which is what we use), then to kitchen cabinet doors and lower grade furniture, then to building type products, and finally, what’s left can only be cut up in to small pieces, finger jointed and made in to products like poor quality worktops.

We are the first and undoubtedly the only company to exclusively use furniture grade North American hardwoods in all of our oak worktops.

As the actual manufacturer, we control every step of the manufacturing process, from the selection of each individual tree, to the delivery of the finished worktop. Not only does this make us unique, it gives us the depth of knowledge to really understand customers needs, and how we can fulfill their dreams.
