One of the things that I love most about design is the ability to create someone’s vision. The power of turning an idea in to a reality is something that excites me. There is nothing more fulfilling than being given that initial brief and having surplus design ideas moving around your head. At Norfolk Oak we have the luxury of helping make your design ideas become a reality.
Manufacturing everything on site here in the UK we have the luxury of being able to make your custom made oak worktops to your exact requirements. We are not like other companies that have stock items. We control every part of the manufacturing process. This means that we have no standard widths or lengths – we are able to supply you with whatever suits your needs. This also allows you the creativity to opt for a worktop that strays from the standard rectangular shape. With our technology and craftsmanship we are able to make you a bespoke worktop to pretty much any shape or size. All you need to do is send us your design specification and we can work with you to help achieve it. If you’re going to spend money on something it is worth getting what you want.
Besides having the creative freedom over the shape and size of your worktop you also have the ability to opt for any of our other bespoke services that we offer that allow for your worktop to become personal to you and work to your way of living. I guess the question lingering on your tongue now is what are the alternative bespoke services that you could have?
To start, we have our Pre-Installation Oiling service. This is where your worktop will be pre-oiled on site so it arrives with you ready for immediate installation. This is a fantastic option for those who would like a quick installation or whom doesn’t fancy tackling the task of pre-oiling the boards themselves.
Moving on from this we have our fabulous Up-Stands. These are fantastic for aesthetic purposes, hiding any lumps and bumps of your wall and for those that are a little messy and require a splash back. This is great if, like me, you love to do home cooking yet end up with food and flour everywhere!
We also offer different edging to compliment your wooden worktops. As standard our worktops are supplied with square edges but this doesn’t always appeal to everyone’s tastes. We can therefore change the edging depending on what you would prefer. We have a few options for you as displayed on our website or alternatively you can always supply us with an image and we can advise from this.
Radius corners can also be provided. These can be used for a variety of reasons, be it a sharp edge that you wanted smoothed over or perhaps you would prefer to have more of a statement piece. Either way we can cater to your needs.
Alongside the above we also offer butt joins so that you can have your worktops joined together. This is done by a series of cut-outs being made along the underside of the worktop before being clamped together when in situ.
Need a sink or hob cut-out? Again, not a problem. All we will need is the dimensions and locations. Having this done means that you are that bit closer to having your board ready for installation on arrival. Furthermore we can put in drainage grooves so that any water can drain back into the sink.
What’s fantastic about manufacturing everything ourselves is that our bespoke service list still continues! Do you do lots of cooking? Or find yourself reaching for a hot mat for your pan? Then our hot rods could be what you need. Placed into your worktop, these solid, brushed steel rods are perfect for acting as a trivet for hot pans. Sitting in specially shaped grooves, hot rods can be easily lifted out to allow for cleaning.
Furthermore we also offer End Caps. These protect the ends of your worktop where they meet a constant source of heat such as an AGA or range cooker. They also provide a great aesthetic.
Lastly we have our drop down mitred end panels. This is where we can cut and assemble drop down panels for you. You may want this to cover the end of units or purely for design purposes. Either way we can offer this service for you.
It is services like this that further my love for design and my work at Norfolk Oak. There is nothing better, in my opinion, than being able to offer a customer everything that they need.
