Over the weekend I was rather restricted to what I could do thanks to a current sports injury that I have incurred. It therefore meant that for the majority of my weekend I was left perched on a sofa with an ample of time at my disposal. Being one with a love for all things design related I decided to turn my attention to browsing homes on various estate websites. I do this not only for design inspiration but also, truthfully, because I like to be a little nosey and see inside homes whose external architecture has had me captivated every time I drive past – it is a chance to see if the external beauty correlates internally. In doing the above my attention turned to how people furnish their homes – how personal taste really is just that, personal.
It is fair to say that my weakness lies in traditional furniture designs most typically that constructed with timber. Timber has a rare natural beauty that is second to none. There is something not only about bringing the outdoors in that has me particularly excited about timber furniture but also in the hard work and craftsmanship that goes in to finishing such spectacular pieces.

This style of furniture sums up my interior weakness – classic, natural and beautiful. In my opinion there is nothing that can match up to this. There are a lot of varying design styles out there but, like clothes, they go out of fashion and a new trend comes in to play. Timber however has been used in design throughout many years and is yet to become ‘tired’ or ‘old’. I believe there to be a reason for this and that reason is extremely simple; Timber is timeless.
