Norfolk Oak: American Ash (Fraxinus Americana)

American Ash WorktopThere are many types of ash; American ash is just one of many. It is commonly known to grow in the eastern parts of the USA. It is also not to be confused with the European Ash. A warm yellow glow makes up the American Ash, leaving a warm satisfying atmosphere. What is meant by this is that when light is placed upon the timber it produces an extraordinary reflection which is gentle, petite and graceful. It possesses very fine, straight grains giving the impression of the phenomenally smooth surface. The overall appearance will leave your kitchen with a soft feminine touch; which if that is what youโ€™re looking for, is exactly the correct timber for you. Like many of our timbers and wooden worktops; you as our customer are given the freedom to request, design and control the outcome of your worktop.

The American Ash maintains good strength, is exceedingly hard and durable. It is known for its strength, as the American ash is a very tall but very slender tree. The American Ash has adapted over centuries to be able to up hold it and be able to stand tall despite the size of its trunk.ย Once the worktop is finalised there is a choice of pre-oiling which helps maintain the timbers condition and leaves a matt finish. Once your choices have been confirmed, this either being through email or over the phone. ย If you chose for your American Ash to be pre-oiled, it will be inserted into a large tank of linseed oil, which then is left for 48 hours; having done this, it protects the timber from general use.
