Norfolk Oak’s Whitewash Worktops

Originally used through-out the farm industry and in workers’ cottages to provide a protective layer against the elements, white-washing (also known as lime-washing) offers a timeless, rustic touch to your wooden kitchen worktops.

Our whitewash is mixed together with our protective linseed oil by our expert joiners, who carefully apply the wash evenly onto your bespoke worktop by hand. The result is a natural finish that works harmoniously with the timber’s natural tones.

We are also able to apply the whitewash with our innovative nano-coat treatment, sealing the wash and the stunning natural colours of the timber in with a protective top coat. Once the treatment has cured, a whitewash nano-coated worktop provides your kitchen with a simple-to-maintain vintage style that oozes laid-back elegance.

Whitewash gives the worktop a lighter aesthetic than an oiled worktop, lending a wonderfully faded appearance to our hardwoods and giving your worktop a stunning rustic character. We find that our whitewash looks its best on our Appalachian timbers, especially White Oak in Super Stave, as it highlights the attractive tight grain structure that runs through-out the wood. Since every piece of timber is different, in some cases, this can make the unique properties of your worktop more prominant.

Our whitewash finish are for those who prefer a matt finish to their worktops, the light hues and flat sheen creating a markedly individual style. However, the wonderful character of our fine timbers still shines through.

The difference whitewash makes is incredible, the much lighter finish enhancing completely different tones in the timber when compared to an oiled worktop. There’s no better way to discover our whitewash than by visiting our showroom.

Our Whitewash Finish

We offer a whitewash service that other worktop companies don’t; a whitewash finish that is exactly to your specification. As wood is a natural product and our whitewash is applied by hand, your whitewash finish will be unique to your worktop, creating a truly bespoke worktop! Before the order is confirmed, we whitewash a similar worktop sample to ensure that you are happy with the finish. This sample is then cut in half and one half is sent to you whilst the other half goes to our worktop finisher, resulting in a finish that is right for all of our customers since the workshop can perfectly recreate the finish of your worktop to the sample.
